The Good Samaritan Foundation, founded in 1993 by Pastor Astrel Vincent, originates from his personal journey of transformation in Haiti's streets. Pastor Astrel, guided by his own experiences, established a school within his church, now known as the Good Samaritan Institute for Boys and Girls. His vision extends to building a campus with classrooms and vocational training facilities, aiming to empower the next generation.
In 2002, the Foundation initiated the Christmas Feast project, feeding over 5,000 children annually and providing them with essential supplies. This heartfelt effort stems from Pastor Astrel's encounter with a young girl's simple wish for a hearty meal during the holidays, highlighting the Foundation's commitment to addressing childhood hunger in Haiti.
With compassion, the Good Samaritan Foundation continues to uplift and empower Haitian communities, embodying Pastor Astrel's vision of spreading hope and opportunity to those in need.
Our Founder: Pastor Astrel Vincent, November 12, 1958 - May 19, 2020
In 1958, as a small child, Pastor Astrel entered a world of hardship in Cap Haitian. At 10, he found solace in Jesus amidst the desolation of Cite Soleil. Guided by a native pastor and an American teacher, he embarked on a five-year journey of faith in Bible school.
From Sunday school teacher to Assistant Pastor, he climbed the ranks, eventually leading the Cite Soleil church and overseeing nine others. Alongside, he founded the Good Samaritan School, educating over 1500 children.
The lot where he once sought refuge now stands as the heart of our ministry. Though briefly attending Bible College in Tennessee, Haiti called him back. "Our mission is holistic: nurturing spirits, minds, and bodies. We aim to transform lives and revitalize Haiti through education and faith," said Pastor Astrel.
